Efficacy

  • WGP 3-6 Increases Microbial Killing. In clinical studies, Biothera compounds significantly increased phagocytic capacity, the ability of the innate immune cells to eat and destroy foreign intruders. After 10 days of treatment, WGP 3-6 had increased the percentage of immune cells able to phagocytose one particle from 63.8% to 83.2% (P< .05). The number of highly phagocytic cells increased from 37.3% to more than 50% (P< .05).
  • WGP 3-6 Increases Immune Cell Activity. A placebo-controlled, double-blinded clinical study conducted with 62 subjects assess the impact of WGP 3-6 on immune biomarkers for subjects exposed to rhinovirus (common cold). Generally, the immune system responds to viral infections with an increase in Natural Killer (NK) cells and cytotoxic T cells as primary defense mechanisms. Participants receiving WGP 3-6 had more NK cells and cytotoxic T Cells (12.5%) as a percent of all lymphocytes than participants in the control group (9.8%).
  • WGP 3-6 Enhances Immune Cell Migration to Site of Challenge. WGP 3-6 enhances the ability of certain human immune cells to migrate to the site of a bacterial infection. Neutrophils, the most abundant type of innate immune cell in the body, are attracted to the site of an infection by blood proteins called chemoattractants and are among the first cells of the body to respond to a challenge due to infection or injury. Priming neutrophils with WGP 3-6 increases their ability to sense complement fragments emanating from the site of an infection. As a result, a more rapid immune response to infection results in faster microbial clearance and healing.
