EAGAN, MN – December 7, 2007 – Catherine J. Benson, director of intellectual property for Biothera, was named to the 2008 “Minnesota Rising Stars” list by Minnesota Law & Politics magazine, which annually recognizes the top young lawyers in the state.
Minnesota Rising Stars are nominated by lawyers on the Minnesota Law & Politics’ “Super Lawyers” list who are asked to nominate the best attorneys who are either under age 40 or who have been practicing 10 years or less. They are instructed to nominate lawyers they have personally observed in action — whether as opposing counsel or co-counsel, or through other firsthand courtroom observation.
After further review of the nominees’ credentials, approximately 2.5 percent of the best up-and-coming attorneys in the state are named to the Rising Stars list. The list includes both private practice attorneys and attorneys in non-private practice areas such as prosecutors, in-house counsel, judges and public service lawyers.

Ms. Benson began her career with Kinney & Lange, P.A. in Minneapolis. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. She also has a Master of Science degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and Genetics from the University of Minnesota.
